Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a style of Hatha yoga which focuses on the union of movement with breath. The classes incorporate elements of Ashtanga into a vigorous and fun yoga class. The student moves into and out of each pose, or asana, following a traditionally defined set of movements, which are combined with specific breathing patterns. The purpose of Vinyasa is to create heat, which leads to purification of the body through increased circulation and sweating. The breath brings focus to and centers the practice, fostering an inner calm through a form of meditation. Together we use movement, breath, and focus to improve flexibility and strength while finding union, or Yoga, in the body, mind and spirit.
